We invite human beings with super powers in their fields and visions that go above and beyond the interdependence of natural, social, economic and political systems for sustainable development.

  • JOSÉ LUÍS
    CORDEIRO

    José Luiís Cordeiro is an extremely versatile Venezuelan engineer. He has worked as an oil company consultant and gravitates between the fields of Science, Mechanical Engineering, Languages and is considered a “futurist.” He believes that soon death will not affect humans anymore. Some of his ideas went into the book – “The Latin-american Challenge,” that became a bestseller in Spanish-speaking countries.

    The Venezuelen scientist, futurist, economist, engineer and columnist, José Luiz Cordeiro, from the Singularity University, known as the University of the Future on the NASA campus (USA) is also a marathon runner. In 18 minutes, he crossed that finish line after a true run of slides -- complete with technological obstacles! -- in which he covered themes from production of live and free energy (being from artificial bacteria or satellites orbiting the Earth) to the colonization of Mars, passing to the cure of ageing and artificial brains. Ah! And with the right to philosophical pearls of wisdom of the most famous Argentine cartoon, Mafalda. Fantastic realism? Who lives will see! And this "who" he says, will be everyone in the year 2045.

    GOMES

    José Maria Gomes Neto is an astrologer, writer and lecturer, known within and outside of Brazil. He has wandered capitals, Europe and the United States, aligning his studies of the cosmos with coaching techniques which has resulted in what he calls Astro*Coaching. José Maria believes that each person has the possibility of transformation within himself. “No, you can not be whatever you want, but you can be whatever you are capable of becoming” is one of his sayings.

    For the astrologer, writer and lecturer, José Maria Gomes Neto, there is nothing more powerful than ideas. But there is definitely something as powerful as they are: sharing such ideas. By the light of the stars, these small seeds are born with parts of the sky at the exact moment of conception. Would you like an example? On the last World Environment day, there was a design in the sky that only happens every 243 years in pairs of 8 years, identical to the historic periods of great advances for humanity. This means that there is a kind of star table for the birth of a new conscience in the human species, the only one capable of thinking and being responsible for the changes on the planet. Good harvest!

    DONNER

    Graphic designer responsible for more than 30 years for the visual identity of Rede Globo de Televisão, Hans Donner has transformed himself into a wizard. Austrian, but carioca at heart, he exposes his work around the world. His talent gave birth to the commemorative logos of ten years of the Georges Pompidou arts center in Paris and 80 years of Cristo Redentor.

    The designer Hans Donner, best known as the wizard of the vignettes of Rede Global – especially Globeleza – is Austrian, but sambas like no other. He constructed the “Design of Time” samba theme song to be presented on the TEDxRio+20 stage, showing his concept of Eco Time, a way of marking the passage of time without a “ticking time bomb” or “watch hands the track our lives.” With typical Brazilian good humor and style, he tells us how he got one over on the Swiss and completed a 26 year old dream with a note written by his young son. Even though he surpasses regulatory time, he got everyone on their feet. Ten, we vote 10!

    MUNIZ

    One of the greatest Brazilian artists today. This is Vik Muniz, who has already spread his talent around the world, always with affordable and unusual materials. He was given an entire wing dedicated to his creations in the Museum of Modern Art in New York and was the protagonist of the documentary indicated for an Oscar called “Wasteland.”

    Vik Muniz is a sensitive man. On a day when the city’s thermometers, accustomed to high temperatures, marked 20 degrees Celsius, he was freezing. To break the ice, he criticized the (un) sustainability of air conditioning and was applauded before even starting his lecture. A Brazilian artist, named at birth Vicente José de Oliveira Muniz, he gave a presentation just a sensitive as his works of art, following the evolution of the visual representations with the different ways of seeing nature and the environment throughout history. To warm up, he invited the citizens of Rio to collaborate on a collective drawing of the Guanabara Bay, on an environmental scale at the Aterro do Flamengo. This time, in the fresh air.

    LAMMOGLIA

    Young, inventive and honored. This is how you can define João Lammoglia, a designer who invests in good ideas. Winner of the Best of the Best 2011 Design award from the Red Dot organization and finalist in the 24th Prêmio Museu da Casa Brasileira, the Brazilian has diverse sustainable projects that can bring revolutions to our lives.”

    At 28, João Paulo Lammoglia is a legitimate representative of generation Y. He is educated in Design, with a focus in sustainability, and already has two conquests on his resume: as finalist in the 24th Brazilian House Museum Award (Prêmio Museu da Casa Brazileira) and a Best of the Best award from Red Dot design in 2011 for Aire, a mask with mini-wind turbines that transform breathing into a source of energy to charge gadgets. But it seems as if he is not going to stop because he believes that human power is to be a part of the solution. “Human beings see themselves as part of the problem in regards to environmental issues, but they aren’t,” he argues. As Darth Vader says: “The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the force.”
